Who I Am

Kevin Warn has been pursuing photography for nine years since his first trip to Hawaii where he developed a profound understanding of the importance of preserving a memory with an image. This understanding led him overseas to Africa, where he documented the rural conditions in Zimbabwe and Zambia. His unique style has given him the opportunity to shoot high fashion in Japan, stock photography in Italy and Amsterdam and weddings in Japan, Hawaii, Catalina and all over CA. Kevin has been published in fashion, music, tattoo, fitness and movie magazines as well as newspapers. He feels that the most important parts of photography are the people and their stories. Kevin believes deeply in giving back, and has been involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America among other organizations. In life he will go wherever his photography takes him.

Artist Statement:
Looking through my lens has opened the world in a whole new light. Colors pop, forms take shape and I witness a fleeting moment that will never be again. I believe every person and place has a story to tell. I enjoy immersing myself in cultures and documenting the lives of others. Whether it’s walking the streets and finding interesting faces, covering tragedies or documenting locations where history took place, I can’t help but photograph the beauty around me. I have witnessed life, death, sadness, triumph, hunger, joy and happiness, which I have used to shape myself into the photographer I am today.

My Love for Japan

Looking back a year ago seeing the devastating videos coming out of Japan as it was being destroyed by an earthquake and tsunami, my heart sank. I immediately called my friend whose in-laws live in Japan, to make sure they were safe. By the grace of God they were. I have met many great people on my trips to Japan and thankfully they were all safe.

Melohnie and Brain, my august wedding couple, who have been living in Japan shared their story about getting engaged just two days after the earthquake “‎1 year ago today, my best friend asked me to marry him. It was 48 hours after the earthquake that had rocked our home in Tokyo, but it was the first morning that we were actually able to smile and laugh. Brian seized his opportunity and proposed, pj’s and all. I had no idea what was going on until I saw the box. The ring went on my finger, and the earth moved… literally! I can’t wait to marry the man of my dreams, the one who makes me laugh, my best friend and my puzzle piece.”

Japan holds a special place in my heart, it was my first international job (shooting fashion) and I was blessed to go back to shoot a wedding. I have traveled a good amount and Japan to this day is still one of my favorite places. Their honor, respect and loyalty is something to call home about. Every time I visit I am treated like family. The respect they show for each other and their families has changed the way I look at things. I encourage you to visit Japan but please don’t just stay in the big cities and tourist areas. Head out into the countryside and small villages off the beaten path. You will be amazed how beautiful it is. Oh ya don’t forget to stay at a hot springs resort out in the countryside! You will not regret it.

Rocking Out With The Bridgfords – Family Session – Irvine

The Bridgford family is one of the funnest families to shoot. I have been photographing their family since Ellie was born. She is now almost 6 and is really turning into her own person. We always get really fun and creative shots and I am very thankful they have made me part of their family.
